Why is it called flannel?

While the origin of the word “Flannel” is uncertain, it is most likely that it came from the Welsh word gwlanen, meaning “woolen cloth”. Due to the differentiation in sound, some suggest that it actually originated from the Old French word flaine “a kind of coarse wool.”

What is quality flannel fabric?

Flannel is a warm fabric of various degrees of weight and fineness. It is a plain-weave cloth heavily brushed for softness. Flannel is often used in apparel and sheets, and can be made of cotton or wool. The brushing process creates insulating air cells that provide more warmth than plain cotton.

What is flannel fabric good for?

The flannel fabric is used to produce clothing, such as shirts, sweaters, vests, cardigans and much more, but also for household items, especially bed linen, such as sheets and blankets.

Flannel has a good look and can be widly used as shell/Lining fabric for garments, toys and blankets.
